After a very successful Executive search process, we’re excited to announce that our new Executive Director, Tina Burgelman, will be joining the Raphael House team at the end of this month (April 28). We can’t wait to work with her and to continue serving our families in their search for stable housing.
About Tina
Tina Burgelman is a nonprofit leader and Certified Fundraising Executive with over 20 years of experience leading high-performing teams and driving philanthropic success.
Tina is a biracial Filipino American who credits her deep joy for people and community to her family and cultural heritage, which have shaped her leadership approach. She began her nonprofit career at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Washington, where she was named Big Sister of the Year before becoming Fund Development Manager. In her first fundraising role, she doubled revenue targets, helping the organization emerge from debt.
Since then, Tina has held key leadership roles, including Executive Director of the San Francisco Muscular Dystrophy Association, Interim Chief Development Officer at SMASH, and Senior Director of Development & Alumni Relations at the University of San Francisco.
Currently, Tina serves as Interim Chief Philanthropy Officer at LifeMoves, leading a team responsible for securing philanthropic support for a $70M budget. In FY24, she led the Principal Gifts team to secure the highest number of seven-figure private funding gifts in LifeMoves history, totaling $13M. She also developed the organization’s principal gifts donor profile, leading to four new seven-figure gifts. At USF, she secured the largest School of Law campaign gift, a $7M bequest, and helped establish new scholarships for first-generation students and teachers of color.
Beyond her professional work, Tina is a dedicated community leader. She chairs the Development Committee on the Canal Alliance Board and previously held a Mayoral Appointment on the Oversight and Advisory Committee for the San Francisco Department of Children, Youth, and Their Families. She also served as Second Vice President at St. Thomas the Apostle School, supporting its leadership during the pandemic.
Tina holds a Master of Science in Organizational Development from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Western Washington University.
She lives in San Rafael with her husband, Oliver, their two sons, Jasper and Remy, their dog, Pogi, and their cat, Ganda.
A Personal Note from Tina
I am honored to join Raphael House, an organization driven by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to supporting families on their path to permanent housing. From my first interactions with this team, I have been inspired by the depth of care and expertise that fuels our work, and I am excited to collaborate in strengthening and expanding our impact.
My connection to this mission is deeply personal. A loved one’s experience with homelessness has shaped my commitment to ensuring that families have access to stability, resources, and hope. I share your dedication to empowering families to achieve long-term stability and believe that every family deserves a trusted, supportive community to help them navigate challenges.
As we face a rising need for family housing solutions, I believe our work at Raphael House has never been more critical. I envision a future where we build on our incredible foundation by expanding resources, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring financial sustainability—so that we can provide the highest level of care to the families we serve.
Above all, I am convinced that when mission-driven teams unite with a shared commitment to growth and support, transformational change is possible. I am committed to listening, learning, and leading in partnership with our team, board, donors, and community. Through our collective efforts, we will create lasting pathways out of homelessness and empower families to achieve the futures they deserve.
I am grateful to be on this journey with you and excited for all that we will accomplish together.
